Erica Mendez is a phenomenal Hip-Hop and R&B singer. She is 22 years young of Puerto Rican descent and was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. Although, Erica records most of her music to be Hip-Hop and R&B; that isn't all she knows how to sing. Erica has an amazing voice that can perfect any genre of music whether it be from Gospel to Classical she sure knows how to diversify herself. Singing has been Erica's passion since the age of 4. Her mother Enid, would always have the music playing and Erica would listen to The Fugees, P. Diddy, Missy Elliot and many more artists. She would perform for her mother's friends everywhere she went and would have people in awe with her singing and occasional rapping in the songs she sang. Her mother would put her in many competitions and Erica would always be victorious. Her mother made her a myspace page at the age of 13 and began promoting her and from there Erica soon was Philadelphia's most known female singer. Erica has won many singing competitions that has led her to sing on stage at the Alicia Keys concert when she was 12. Erica has opened up for many Latin artists at the age of 13-16, such as Arcangel, Zion y Lennox, Tonio Rosario, Aventura, Tego Calderon, Michael Stuart and much more. She was featured in many newspaper articles due to her talent and even got to open up for Aretha Franklin at the age of 16. Erica also is known for her rendition of The National Anthem. She sang the National Anthem in front of 44,000 people for the Philadelphia Phillies game when they entered the World Series in 2008. Erica also sang the National Anthem October 20, 2012 at The Barclay Center for a night of Championship Boxing in front of 16,000 people. Erica attended The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts in 2010 for Classical Music. She then went on to college at East Stroudsburg University for Opera with a full paid scholarship due to her angelic yet powerful Opera skills. She graduated at the age of 20 with her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. Yes, she graduated college in only 2.5 years with a Bachelor's Degree. She is very intelligent and extremely focused on her career and studies. Erica is now working on a huge project and believes that 2014 will be her breakout year.
